Getting tired of never-ending ads when I'm browsing. What free and effective ad-blocking software is there? Any downsides to using it?

there are two in chrome that work OK and are straightforward to find in the webapps site, although I had to reinstall the one I chose recently as it had stopped blocking google "Ad Choices". Reinstalling solved it.

Website owners don't particularly like you using it, knackers their advert revenue. C'est la vie.
