Ok, looking for a recommendation from other space / NASA / Apollo mission nuts like me.
"moon shot" is the obvious choice but read that about 5 times and still rated as one of my favourite books of all time.
Great to get something else similar recommended. Preferably with an ebook option
Failure is not an option - Gene Kranz autobiography. Good read, with some frankly terrifying detail of what they did with so little resources in the early manned flights. No idea on what the second half is like, but should be good if first half is anything to go by.
Digital Apollo, by David Mindell. About the use of computers in space flight, and how the astronauts didn't like not being in control.
Carrying the Fire by Michael Collins is a very engaging account of the Gemini and Apollo missions.
The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe is an absolute classic and covers the very early days of the Space Race.
Moondust by Andrew Smith is a very enjoyable book that focus's around the people rather than the technology of the moon landings. Highly recommended for anyone with a passing intrest in Apollo missions or after some nostalgia from the moon landings era.
Not exactly what you asked for as it's Shuttle era, but Mike Mullane's bio "Riding Rockets" is an entertaining read, I really enjoyed it.
Second moon dust.
"How Apollo Flew to the Moon" by W. David Woods is superb.
Some great recommendations there, will give them a look. Thanks
