The number of computer mice I get through is annoying. I do have a tendency to slam them down on the desk when annoyed, which doesn't do them any good. Most I've tried just seem too flimsy and lightweight. I was wondering if there's any sturdier and more 'industrial' options out there? 2 buttons and scroll wheel. Apple mice are nice and tough, but too fiddly and don't have a decent 2 button option really. I can't get on with them.

Anything in Titanium and carbon? Come on, there's got to be something a bit tougher.

I got a Microsoft ball mouse with my first computer in 1998. I still have it, it still works.

Wtf are you doing to them?

Basic microsoft intellimouse for cheap and cheerful. robust too, tho a fit of furious rage clicking eventually killed mine after 7 years.

Wouldn't use anything but logitechs with their free-spinning wheels now though. Ace mice. They're good on warranty too.

Got a Logitech at the moment, but it's got bits falling off it and will need replacing. Microsoft ones last about a week.

Molgrips; I tend to bash them down on my desk, as I explained above. I agree this is not reasonable use, but that's how it is. I've ripped them out and thrown them at the wall in the past. I have a mouse-shaped dent in the wall from one launch. One went out of a window and frightened a passer by.

The Apple Pro mice were extremely tough, made of lexan rather than flimsy plastic, but as I explained, less than ideal. I'd like something that tough, with 2 buttons and a scroll wheel. Possible?

Surely it's cheaper to not get so wound up that you're bouncing computer hardware off the walls?

Ooh I don't know, therapy could cost thousands.

I bash the keyboard a lot too, but it's an Apple one, and has survived for almost 10 years! Indestructible.

I need a ToughMaus™. Someone must make one, surely?

Logitech G5 for me. Best I've ever had by a country mile. you can even change the weights in it so it's "just right". Designed for gaming (which isn't my cup of tea), but so good I've bought one for work and one for home.

Intellimouse is flimsy and right-handed, so useless.

Rootes1; I may pop into an Apple shop and have a bash at the new Magic Mouse. See if it withstands 5 minutes of bashing it about.

Don't get wireless. The wired ones don't go far when you fling them.

How about just having less too break? or in this case if you decide to throw it at the wall you'd just hurt your hand....

G5 or Intellimouse - I hated the Apple one from the moment I picked it up.

Heh. I found a nice mouse the other day that I didn't know I had. Guess I'll keep it in case I start to get angry with my 'crappy new Dell laptop'

😉

Dum dum dum, another one bites the dust...

Logitech mouse just failed; the scroll wheel has just fallen out.

PeterPoddy; the mouse will probably outlast the laptop, so you can give it to me when you throw the laptop away.

The new Apple mouse looks interesting, as it has no moving parts. And I see they have a new trackpad thingy, but that looks quite similar in function to my little Wacom tablet really. Not ****ing cheap either, are they?

If you're in an Apple shop in the near future, and you see a bloke bashing a mouse around and swearing, it'll be me 'product testing'.

Excellent. Now that's some proper tough stuff, not yer normal namby-pamby gives up the ghost with the slightest tap flimsy rubbish. I like the panel-mount trackball thingy.

Ohh, I can't afford that Apple stuff. Too 'spensive. I just look after my kit.

(Please see my profile for my previous Dell PC advertised for sale, 5-6 years old, VGC, 100% reliable, £45 😛 )

I'm considering demolition. I'd have immense fun tearing down something like the Get Carter car park in Newcastle.

Sad news! My 10-year old Apple keyboard had one of the keys stop working, as the rubber membrane beneath has perished.

Mm, new type aluminium keyboard needed methinks..
