Can't justify a Go-Pro as I'm sure it will spend most of it's life in a drawer.

So whats good for playing with, HD would be good, 4K not bothered I think...

Hoping someday will say I've got a £30 Chinese one and it's alright... Just a bit baffled by all the different versions..

I've got a £30 Chinese one and it's alright.

In fact it was well worth the £45 I paid for it.

I got a SJCam off Amazon. However, they seem to gone up the price recently.

SJCAM original and SJCAM M10 off eBay. Ok, its a bit more than £30 but its been pretty good. Does have small compromises with rapidly changing light in some circumstances but its OK for the money.... and quite robust.

Find an authentic seller as even the copies have been copied! Techmoan on youtube has a good vid on them.

Filmed with a SJ CAM M10

I've got an SJ4000 sat in a drawer at home if you want it for £20. Works fine, not as good as the gopro that replaced it obvs but was about a third of the price when I bought it.

Another happy Chinese copy user. SJ4000, bought a while ago, not sure what the latest is. Image quality is great. Better than my 7 year old Pentax camera, which was my previous action cam. Only issue is the buttons are pretty stiff in the waterproof housing.

I have a xiaomi yi one - a bit more than £30 but a lot less than a Go-Pro. Works very well for what I use it for - supposedly a bit better than a SJ4000, but I doubt most of us would notice the difference (though I have found that it is worth having high resolution - means you can zoom in when editing and still get good quality).

Most of us are happy with specific branded cheapy Chinese things - which aren't actually quite as cheap as that. You're gambling on quality with something totally unknown - even the copies of the SJ4000 are known not to be as good.

I was wondering about the Apeman camera's? Wanted one as a 'fit and forget' camera to replace my Garmin Virb X on the commuter bike!?

Another vote for the apeman camera. I've used one this summer, it's spent a lot of time in pools and the sea and is still doing well. Pretty happy for 30 quid.

I'll upload some raw footage from today... (it won't be edited and will lack plink plonk hipster soundtrack)

Ta da!!!

I realise that mounting it under the bars is not the best place....

(make sure you change the quality to HD, don't know how to default that)
