My useless 4 yr old Barret home has developed a leak where the Bay window meets the wall. The home insurance chappy says it's poor workmanship and therefore not covered and the twunts at NHBC have refused to even send out someone to assess it (cue complaint to the FSA, but I'm not holding my breath).
Anyway I now need a man with a bumcrack problem and a transit van to come and fix it. Any first hand experiences of builders in the exeter area would much appreciated.

Definitely pursue NHBC. Presuming the house is covered, and most new houses are, then that's what it's there for - to protect you against bad workmanship.
