Reconditioned Dyson DC-07.
Our old DC-01 died a while ago and the in-laws gave us their old DC-07 and it is much better than our old DC-01 plus it was free, winner!

We have got a miele - £165, but it's more than £65 better than a Henry.

Yes, you're right, sorry, my mistake I should have read your requirements fully.
Still a damn fine vacuum should you decide to go for an upright instead...

You should find approx 400 threads all dealing with this if you use the search function. To save time the answer is numatic or the unknown oreck, dyson et al are crap.
I'm beginning to think numatic are astroturfing singletrack.
Miele, no question. Great design, excellent brush head, fantastic after sales service (fixed price service and renovation). If you want a decent allergen challenge, get a Dyson, plenty of dust mite antigen every time you empty it. Miele have lovely self-sealing bags, carbon air filters etc.
Oh and don't buy any upright. Why push the whole machine when you can just push the vacuum head.

For £100 it has to be a Henry.
Sold our old one at the weekend though as it hurt my wife's back when she used it. I found it ok though. Got £30 for it at car boot so quite please. Bought a BMX for £35, even better! 😀
Sebo relacement is very good but much more £££

Had Dyson, it was very noisy, unreliable, dirty and heavy.
At our local recycling/dump Dyson's far outnumber the other makes of vacuum cleaner.
We slung a dyson upright after it proved to be too unreliable and succesful repairs seemed short lived (cue dyson owners telling you how every part can be replaced).
We replaced it with a lightweight upright samsung for £65. It's not *quite* as good as the dyson (when the latter worked), but it weighs half as much, cost naff all and is yet to break down.
So, the answer is: miele.

+ dyson 'lifetime filters' last a few months and are expensive. You can't clean all the crap out.
Are Henrys bagless now then? My ancient one certainly had a bag (and not much power).
