What can you recommend?

1. Something between a jersey and a jacket. Warmer than a jersey, but more breathable than jacket.
2. Windproof.
3. Not black.
4. Pockets.
5. budget around £100.

Edit - should add, looking for road fit.

What do you want to use it for? On road I'd heartily recommend stretching to get what I have, a Castelli Perfetto RoS. e.g. £120

Exactly the sort of thing I am thinking of, but don't want black.

Will be used on road and gravel when its cold/windy, but no chance of being wet (I have a waterproof already).

PX Magma, loving mine so far, warm yet breathable and I've yet to test its waterproof quality.

Best £30 I've spent on a cycle jacket to date in recent promo.

2nd this, it's a great bit of kit, it's pretty much all I wear through winter and autumn. Bear in mind it sizes small though.

the blue one of these?

There's a full zip version too, but with a hood you probably don't want.

I've got one of these, it's great

This looks decent too

I like Polaris kit - proper no-nonsense, well-made, well-priced clobber

@lunge I played it very safe when ordering, went XL with ~38" chest and ~34" and slimming, maybe could do L next time.

Have a look at the Endura Jetstream. It's a jersey with windproof and largely waterproof front panels, and a roubaix back so it vents very well.

Is my go-to autumn/winter/spring garment, with suitable base layers.

I've got a green Endura Convert jacket with the zip off arms if anyone wants it - lovely bit of kit but clashes horribly with my bike, ahem. Hardly wore it and been kicking around for a few years. Cost £100 from memory, £20 posted would do

Some options, I use the Rapha Pro Trg jersey in most weathers.
https://www.rapha.cc/gb/en/shop/pro-team-training-jacket/product/TRA02XXPOP

If it’s really cold and I’m just doing a steady ride then one of these....
https://www.lapassione.cc/collections/mid-season-cycling-tops/products/psn-windproof-jersey-red-clay

Not meeting the brief, but I also have one of these, it’s really versatile, keeps me warmer than you would think, stows away really easily once I’ve warmed up....

Daft question, but is a gilet no good? I have a quilted galiber one, wasn’t great for mtb for very useful for road.

I’ve never found the Perfecto that warm or waterproof, I’ll wear it during the Spring and do 1 hour crits in it, but for longer rides I’ve found it colder than my options above.

Endura jetstream FS260 currently on sale for £30 (down from £90) at trends if you like blue.

I was slightly miffed that it didn't seem as water repellent as the old version (which had more of a tight woven fabric on the front panels, this one is more 'fleecy' so the outer get's wet. But got caught in a torrential downpour on Mondays commute home and it was all I had leftover from a lunchtime ride, managed to keep my work shirt dry underneath (which means it was breathable too). I've already bought 2 and tempted by a couple more as it matches the club kit.

Only criticism is that because the outer get's wet I get a bit of windchill on my upper arm/shoulder as it dries. So needs a baselayer with some weight/loft in the material if it's going to be a wet ride.

Slightly leftfield suggestion, but these are great when paired up with a normal road jersey and arm warmers.

Also worth looking at Sportful stuff, they are a sister company of Castelli so have some very similar garments but can often be found a bit cheaper.

Castelli Perfetto. Its virtually our club kit this time of year, as so many people wear them.

Pretty water-resistant, very breathable, and not super-warm. So you can wear the appropriate layer underneath depending how cold it is.

I’ve never found the Perfecto that warm or waterproof, I’ll wear it during the Spring and do 1 hour crits in it, but for longer rides I’ve found it colder than my options above.

The thing with the Perfetto and the Gabba it developed from, is that it has small non-windproof panels under the arms which, I think, shed a surprising amount of warmth. I run pretty hot and it works well for me, but I can imagine if you're cooler running or on a long, steady ride, it wouldn't be great. The fabric doesn't have much of a backer either, so insulation is limited.

My solution is to layer over a DHB Polartec Alpha gilet which you can always take off an stow if you get too warm.

1. Something between a jersey and a jacket. Warmer than a jersey, but more breathable than jacket.

When you say a 'jacket', you mean a waterproof shell? And when you say 'warmer' do you mean insulated or just windproof. Anything windproof is going to feel warmer than an air-permeable standard jersey fabric because you're not losing as much heat to air currents. Beyond that, you're looking at backer fabrics capable of trapping enough air to add insulation, but it's arguably more versatile to layer a shell over something designed to trap warm air like the Polartec Alpha thing above.

the blue one of these?

Morphosis Half-Zip [Mens]

Fabric not 100% windproof, which you do notice in sharp, cold winds. And doesn't have rear pockets. Good for mountain biking though.

Yes. Something thick, windproof panels in front and arms but good breathability. I have a Endura something or other from years ago, which is like a neoprene wetsuit type jacket. Its bulky and heavy but my god is it warm. I can wear it sub zero with just a base layer.

The Rapha Pro Team Training really is superb. Has seen me down to 0° with the right base layer.

Has anyone tried one of these?
https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/nukeproof-blackline-softshell-jacket/rp-prod178011

A little over budget, and definitely more of a jacket than a jersey, but they look great to me - almost too nice to wear on a bike.

I bought as castelli perfection in luminous orange and a gabalier insulated gilet.

Sounds like similar aims to yourself. I’ve got a couple of 130mile road rides lined up.
First commute today And the combo seems perfect 😀😀
