I seem to have built up a bit of a stash of Oakley and other nice opthalmic glasses over the last few years. The frames from some pairs seem to have lasted really well so when the every two years eye test comes round and I've splurged on a different set or colour they've gone in a drawer (yes lazy and wasteful). Mrs gd pointed out delicately what a colossal waste of money this is.

So new prescription pending as the eye exam is due ... anyone know a decent online place that might be able to change the lenses and make up plain, reactions and sunglass pairs? I've seen a few places advertise but mainly round whole new pairs. Current optician is a big chain and charge about £40-50 for "no frame" on top of lenses cost if you want to recycle last time I asked.

The answer is not contacts. 🙂

I got some Oakley frames reglazed with thin (1.6) anti-reflective/scratch resistant coating lenses etc. for ~£47 all in. They did charge me twice but sorted it out quickly enough.

www.directsight.co.uk

Edit: plus the cost of posting your glasses there
