Ginger cat on next doors shed being dive bombed by a raven.
The raven then lands on my shed and starts staring at the cat. Cat goes into full stalk mode. I open window to video the events but this causes raven to fly off.
Cat then thinks he's the daddy and goes back to relaxing. Raven returns and gives him another dive,not sure if he pecked the cat, anyway cat scarpers.
What could cause this aggro? There's no food out and the sheds are nowhere near the trees.

Swallows beat the crap out of my cat when the youngsters are fledging.
I was once standing by the back door, and the cat came racing in to avoid the aerial onslaught. It though to was ok inside, but one of the swallows flew straight past me into the kitchen to have another go. 😀
Cat was asking for it though.

It's big it's black ,it may not lead the Don's attack but it looks like the bird on The Stranglers album cover.
The last encounter that I witnessed between cat and corvid ended with the result Basement Cat 1 Carrion Crow 0.
It was messy.
Could easily be a raven these days, they're a lot more common than they used to be, they're within a couple of miles of Chippenham now, so I won't be surprised to see them giving the local moggies a hard time.
The animal behaviourist Konrad Lorenz in his book King Solomon's Ring describes being attacked by crows or ravens while walking home from a swim in the country. Then he realises the attack is happening because he's carrying his black, wet shiny swimming costume hanging limply in his hand and the birds think it's one of their pals.

I always thought squirrels were mute until I saw one being attacked by a magpie yesterday and it was making the weirdest squealing noise I've ever heard

Our cat was on next door's bungalow roof stalking a couple of them the other day. They were just standing there looking at the cat as if to say 'WTF' then they squawked loudly and leapt up and down a few times and the cat legged it
Best not to mess with magpies.
Aussie Magpies are FAR FAR worse...
Our cat was up a tree a couple of weeks ago and the magpies were going mad. She just ignored them which really pissed one of them off so it bit her tail! She just gave it a what the hell was that for look.

Yeah your typical cat is probably not hungry enough to bother with a bird defending its family.
I saw a magpie chasing off a kestrel yesterday. Magpies look like weak fliers the way they flap like mad in straight ish lines, but they do seem to have it where it counts. It was an impressive display of airmanship.
there was a dog at the park chasing two crows (or similar) on Saturday across a field. fast dog and the crows were flying at head height for some reason so it was a good chase. but then another crow came from nowhere and started dive-bombing the dog.

Serves the moggy right for shitting in the raven's garden.
Um, our cats got grief from a couple of magpies last week, chattering, dive bombing and so on, so they killed both of them and brought them in to show us.
Don't mess with northern cats.
