Anyone recommend me a good Dual Fuel Range for less than £1K? I'm a bit baffled.
When we looked at cookers last year we were told not to look at anything <£2k when it came to range cookers as cheaper ones are a false economy.
Er, no.
Mrs North bought our Britannia range 5 years ago at an £800 discount. was still £1700 as I recall.
Excellent piece of kit.
We had a Belling that fell apart quite rapidly and after 4 years had only 1 oven and 2/3 of the rings functioning. We were going to have a Leisure but cancelled the order after 4 weeks when they couldn't tell us when they might have the parts to fulfill the order.
We replaced the Belling with a Britannia about 2 years ago and so far very impressed, but they are a bit above your proposed price range.
However, we also looked at John Lewis own brand and they looked OK, came with John Lewis reputation for decent stuff and a 3 year guarantee. Looking at their website [url= http://www.johnlewis.com/Electricals/Cookers+_26+Ovens/Cookers+_26+Ovens/Cookers/Dual/-/Fuel/13309/ProductCategory.aspx#&&/wEXAgURU2VhcmNoRXZlbnRUYXJnZXQFOmN0cmxGaWx0ZXJMSE4xX3JwdEZpbHRlcnNfY3RsMDBfY3RybExpc3RGaWx0ZXJfdXBkVmlld0xlc3MFE1NlYXJjaEV2ZW50QXJndW1lbnQFfEZJTC9FbGVjdHJpY2Fscy9Db29rZXJzK18yNitPdmVucy9Db29rZXJzK18yNitPdmVucy9Db29rZXJzLzEzMzA5LzEvMS9Qcm9kdWN0Q2F0ZWdvcnkuYXNweD9hPTEzNTQ0NiU3YzM3ODFfNzgwJTdjMjg0MCU3YzI0MzdGN3cENbAKfAUN43Hlp0nHAK2F5g== ]here[/url] they are currently doing the 90cm for 1ukp under the 1000 and a SMEG for not much more.
Can't remember how much we paid but the Brittania we have had for the last 9 years has been great.
When we looked at cookers last year we were told [by the sales person] not to look at anything <£2k when it came to range cookers as cheaper ones are a false economy.
Fixed that for ya Funky 😉 But I do think that less than £1k is probably not a great idea.
i recommend a visit to http://www.rangecookers.co.uk/ if you are nearby
good range* to look at in the showroom and helpful chaps in there.
We got a stirling induction for £1700

The knobs are a little plasticy but the rest of it is nice and solid and it's been a pleasure to cook on/in. Especially the slow cooker oven and the multifunction oven.
Better quality knobs seemed to add about £2000 to the sale price.

we had a smeg, lovely looking thing but typically italian in that the finish was appaling, bits would regularly fall off and it would blow an oen element every 10months at least. i would never buy another smeg.
now got a rangemaster, more reliable but build quality is not that good either. certainly not the quality they would have you believe they offer.
if i was doing it again i'd go for a 2nd hand solid fuel aga and a cheap inbuilt hob/oven.
I'd also recommend a Britannia if you can get one. We've had ours of 6 years. I seem to recall we paid about £1400 (discounted by about £600) as the shop wanted to clear the stock for the next years model!
Got one of these.

I like it and it does the job... but not for less than a grand.
Hi brick, I used to sell range cookers and infact worked for Britannia, they are a really good strong robust cooker. Are you limited to a certain width?
Where aboutas in the country are you? I may be able to direct you to someone that can help you out with a price on one, not sure it will be quite as low as 1000 though.

YGM Rapidman. forgot to mention the width needs to be 100cm.
