My iPad seems to have gained a random line between the second and third icons on the top line.

Any idea what it is ?

It looks like dead pixels to me

Rotate the screen, does it move?

It is only on home screen, every other page is ok, and it does move when you rotate screen

A dead pixel wouldn't show on a screen grab though would it?

maybe its a tiny little spy hole that the NSA can look at you through.

does it move relative to the icons or relative to the background? i.e. is it on the same bit of the ripple?

What happens if you change the background/wallpaper?

When you rotate it stays between the same icons ,so actually moved to a different part of the screen.

Weird. I was wondering if the wallpaper image had somehow been modified or corrupted but its not that.

What happens if you re-order the icons?

Try changing your background picture and then see if it's there.

It was the home screen background, but why would it appear randomly ?

I would imagine it was just a graphics issue failing to render it. No doubt if you changed it back to that image it would be fine.
