My current 12v car plugin cooler box is noisy as hell, I think the fans are rattling on the motor. Are they all like this, or are there good and bad brands?

We have a campinggaz one too. Fairly quiet, maybe a mild hum - not noticeable when in the car.

It is worth getting a 240v converter as well. Normally we plug the box into the mains the night before we go away, that way it is well chilled when we start putting food and drinks into it.

Autoexpress did a group test of coolboxes that you might find useful

Another vote for the Campingaz classic one. Just taken it round Scotland and it worked well. There were a few places doing a deal with a free 240V adapter too last month.
