I am setting up my home network at the moment, trying to do it today. I have a switch
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/GS108PEv1
and wireless access points
http://uk.tp-link.com/products/details/cat-5692_EAP110.html
but the switch says it is 48v and the WAPs say they are 24v. Will it all be fine or will they not work/damage?
Chris
They both claim to support PoE 802.3af so I wouldn't worry about it. There is always a voltage drop across the cable as well so the source voltage is always higher than you expect. I've not used that access point before but I've used that switch with other PoE devices and it works well. Can't guarantee it won't get damaged but I don't see how it could and I wouldn't worry about it. For reference I normally use it with a wap321 which uses 12v supply and nothing has died yet
PoE is (usually) active - it should auto-negotiate what power it needs and supply accordingly.
