None- get an SSD if you're not bothered about capacity.

Hitachi. (HGST)

You think Apple / Android holy wars are bad, ask a roomful of geeks for HDD recommendations.

we're talking 120Gb tops. To bang in a junky laptop.
Just want something that wont throw up crappy bad sector out in 6months time. SSD wont cut it.

Right WD it is then.

WD would've been my second choice.

Somewhat reassured no-one said Fuji. There's hope for the forum yet.

That's what I keep telling myself - just waiting for my MacbookAir to self destruct again though 😡

price versus capacity for a vista OS build and that damned winxs file.

Know any 120Gb+ SSDs for less than £30?

(And not first gen too, as they are woeful for speed. Had to rip one out of my Acer and go back to HDD. Ran flashfire for a while but got unstable. Latest generation are better but still pricey)

Aside, WinSXS isn't as big as you think. It's hardlinked into the Windows directory itself, so its reported size includes files that are reported elsewhere in the Windows dir.
