Horner Woods - Stoke Pero to Porlock or Porlock to Stoke Pero.

Which is best.

Hawk Combe - Whats it like to ride.

Cheers for advice.

Great fun to decend but hideous whichever way you choose to get to the top and awful if you are of a mind to climb it.

Hi-

Top 1/2 of Hawkscombe is good- then take the upper bridleway about 1/2 way down for decent track on the edge of the wood 🙂

Only done exmoor once, I remember the best bit being the granny run - not sure if that was in horner wood or not.

I definitely echo what eviljoe says.

If you don't take that trail, it turns into a dull bit of double track for about half its length.

Have a look at the Exmoor Explorer.com site, that's got all the old routes including those from around Porlock. 08 and 09 had excellent long route loops in and around Hawkcombe.
Routes are designed to make the climb easiest and the descents hardest!
