Does anyone know how to make a picture paler so you can put text over it ?

What version on you using? In 2003 (and probably other versions) right click on the picture and select [b]Format Picture[/b] then go to the [b]Picture[/b] tab. From there you can select [b]Washout[/b] from the Color drop down menu in the Image Control section or teak brightness and contrast manually using the sliders.
