Looking for recommendations for a pub with rooms for a DWA*. Requirements as follows;

Location - Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset sort of area

Good rooms, with big bath/shower and a bed that spans multiple time zones

Good grub

Good beer

Good walking country

I've got a few that we've used before, but would like to hear of any other hidden gems and try somewhere different.

*dirty weekend away, obviously!

Wrong part of the country but definitely Pentonbridge Inn. Chefs are ex Marcus Waring

Heading next weekend for the tasting menu and room bargain of £50 (usually £200) with breakfast..

I was going to say McKays Restaurant and rooms in Durness from the title. However its down south you want so that really is not much good but its a fine fine place. top notch scottish produce, rooms are lovely one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. Just what you need - just a little bit too far north

1980 called, they want their room back....

Our room was all black, circular bed with black sheets and.... mirrored ceiling...

Bel and the Dragon in Kingsclere is nice. Food is very good too. They have other locations, but I've not tried them.

The Miller is local, and wins loads of awards.

It is excellent - food is superb. Nick (the chef) is a Heston man.

Location is good; on the Thames, decent walks, great cycling (possibly not on that weekend....)

or the Royal Oak - more remote, decent walks, but lovely Taproom just down the road

although there's quite a few around here, my recommendation would be for the Miller.

Houns, have been going to the Beckford since Karen and Eddiem ran the place and Madge propped up the bar! A good fall back.

Matt, that is A MAZE ING! Just amazing!

Onewheelgood, bit too close to home that one, but thanks!

Petec, will have look at that one. Thanks!

I've been to a "locals only" evening at the Miller of Mansfield - the set menu food was excellent. No idea on the rooms.

You've also got the Pot Kiln if you go to Yattendon and want to eat away from the hotel. http://www.potkiln.org/
