If you've watched it, you'll know how good it is, if you haven't, it's a must watch in my opinion. Perhaps not this late mind you. 😉

No doubt it's on iPlayer.

Great film, a bit weird and disturbing in places....

Michael Nyman, the composers song really makes the film though, I feel it would just be a bit flat and wierd otherwise.

It's actually one of my favorite tunes, so haunting and full of emotion.

I'm a bit confused though as it's sometimes called 'the promise' and sometimes called 'the heart asks pleasure first'.

Yep, it's a tune that you'd not forget in a dozen lifetimes is it?

Id not watched the film for a fair few years after initially seeing it. I liked it in the 1990's but being in my 20's at the time I didn't consider it worth a rewatch. As I've got older I've watched it a lot, strange how gathering more life experiences changes your whole perception of so many things.ย  I hadn't intended staying up to watch it but got pulled in.

I'll happily confess to watching zombie films/series too mind you... So I'm maturing in one sense and regressing in others.😁

On that note I must get off to kip though. I was going to read a bit of the SF book im currently reading but that will end in me not putting the ruddy thing down till the sun's up. It's not even that good! Lol

I have the CD EP/single version of that. I couldn't afford the album. Played it to death when it was new. Who knew deliberate naivety is exactly what's needed to hook young listeners?

Anyway, that theme is called "The Heart Asks Pleasure First / The Promise (Edit)" on the single.

There's an equally great tune called "Coupling" in it from a Peter Greenaway movie. That sent me down a right rabbit hole, both all Nyman's great music for the Greenaway movies, and watching the movies themselves.

Hated it when it came out and couldn't understand the love for it - maybe I should revisit now I'm older.

Never seen it, thanks for the tip.

I remember it came out when I was 14, and since the trailer contained no explosions, chase scenes or slapstick comedy, I assumed it was probably crap.

Maybe time to give it a go!ย  These days, it's the films with trailers containing explosions and superheroes that I do my best to avoid. Funny how your perspective shifts...
