Not really relevant to your psa, but we drove over that bridge last year when we visited Normandy. Amongst other things we also visited the Caen war memorial. A very sobering experience. Worth a visit to that part of France if you've never been.
did most of normandy as a kid from Bayeux to WW2. Gives a real sense of perspective on life that was only dented by seeing some of the stuff that went on in SE asia and Turkey with the Aussies.
If interested in the airborne forces in ww2, dig out the Clarkson program on the VC for an interesting story on the mild mannered oil executive Robert Cain and his part in the Arnhem landings.
