Oh yes happy days, Series 1 and 2 currently on there.

I missed them the first time round and realised what a fool I'd been when I watched series 3. TV at it's best.

Great stuff thanks. Like you I didn't find it until the last series. I seem to do it with most things on TV. They were on Netflix but couldn't get them to work for some weird reason.

Watched all 3 series several times, probably half a dozen each. Better step away from iPlayer...

Good to see iplayer keeping more series in the library.

I have all three series and the Christmas special saved on the Humax box, last year it was a New Years Eve binge watch and I think it will get us through another one 🙂

Thanks.. re-watched series one the other night.. there's subtle jokes that I missed the first time. Possibly one of my fave series ever.

I love this show so much I bought it on iTunes. And I never, ever do that.

The most perfect illustration of Gen X British maleness.

If Spaced was the reflection of my 20’s, Detectorists is the middle aged version.

Cheers for the PSA. I had never seen it and now it’s right up there with my favourites. Wonderful stuff and I only cried once!

So… only the Xmas special I haven’t seen. Fingers crossed they show it soon.

Only one cry? Must be a lie.

When it was on Netflix, the Christmas special was added as the last episode in series 2.the didn't call it that, we only realised part way through.

We've just finished watching it through Series 1-3 (with the special) a week or so ago. And I only finished watching it for the first time about three or four months ago. I could watch it all again tomorrow, I absolutely love it.

The best thing that has ever graced our TV screens, bloody fantastic and the theme tune by Johnny Flynn is just the icing on the the most delicious cake.
Did I mention I liked it?😊

Similarly I just finished series 3 last week, just a lovely relaxing thing to watch before bed!

It was all great but favourite bits were
- trampoline scene
- Hugh telling Russell he's 32 ("I Feel like I've been groomed!")
- Shiela's occassional windows of poignancy amongst the ditsyness

Shiela’s occassional windows of poignancy amongst the ditsyness

The bit outside the pub with Lance, talking about what we can only assume is a child she gave up, is an absolute masterclass in acting, gets dusty in here just thinking about it.

And, of course, her lemonade 🙂

This program has got me into the hobby and while it feels a very odd thing to do, wandering around a field with nothing but bleeps for company, it is strangely addictive. I've done a few group digs now and it is a little competitive with some rushing around waving their coils in the air like Lance does while others concentrate on small areas with coils more to the soil. One thing I didn't expect was to feel utterly knackered at the end of the day. The other thing I didn't expect was that effectively doing squats all day has helped my cycling!

Amongst many things I love about Detectorists is that it reminds me of wandering around various fields in Shropshire with my Grandad as he found yet another musket ball. Sadly we gave away his kit when he died, I’d love a go again now

Is there a recommended watching order for this? There's films and stuff isn't there? Or am I getting mixed up?

Start at series 1 EP 1 and just follow the order on iPlayer, no film but a Christmas special

Just a Christmas special to watch in the right order. As it happens, that was the first episode I watched, and I don’t think it ruined things for me watching the older staff afterwards. You might as well avoid that though.
