I know rice isn't that hard to cook, but this makes it easier and better..
It's small, so good enough for the 3 cups needed for most rice cake recipients, or will do enough for a 'normal' portion for 3 people..
It's seventeen quid, but importantly it's pretty tiny, so can tuck away in a cupboard!!
I've done 2 batches of rice today - one for tea, and one for rice cakes (feed one portables). All came out great.
FOr bonus chuckles, the included recipient book has all manner of randomness in it - mac and cheese, LASAGNE, noodle stew...knock yourselves out!

So what's the benefit over just doing rice in a pan? How easier and better? It's already easy and good in a pan.
We had a rice cooker bought as a Xmas present, 2 days after I perfected Basmati rice..
It's still in the cupboard.
Cheap non-stick pan. That's all you need. Just learn the absorption method.
Don't even need a non stick pan as long as you get the rice out when it's ready.
I can see a rice cooker could be handy for when you don't have a hob.
Aye. True. Non-stick just makes for easier cleaning. And prob easier to buy one of those than a stick pan.

I appreciate rice in a pan isn't that challenging, and if you can get it right EACH TIME then that's cool...I/we often struggled.
This is basically:
2 cups of rice (plastic measuring cup included)
3 cups of water
Stir
Click button.
It'll cook to perfection, click off, and then keep warm.
It won't burn or stick.
I personally think it makes rice much nicer that I've ever achieved in a pan (your results may vary!)
Previously we had a very large one, and a 2-3 cup rice volume was just too small to cook properly. I like this one as it's essentially at full capacity with a few cups, and that cooks the rice much better I find...
Meh..I'm not on commission, just highlighing a pretty good kitchen toy!

All the chinese students next door to where I use to live all used rice cookers.
Majority in South East Asia have a rice cooker(s) in their house. Fact. 😀

I don't buy rice from this region but I do buy Basmatic rice from India or ****stan from Tesco. However, I try not to consume too much of rice from that region.
