I don't know a thing about gadgets..but that's a lot of £$£$£ off.
Not bad! especially with this:

RRP for the 64GB version may once have been £559 but it's currently £249 so their "saving" of £430 is incorrect. Still a goodish deal if price is the most important thing to you
I'm in the market, but on paper the BB has a smaller cpu and worse resolution than say a nexus. Not sure how the original price is justified. Am I missing anything other than memory?

It's obsolete?
Obsolete for what? I've had one since launch day and with the new OS2, it has native mail, a browser that supports proper Flash, a few games for the kids and an excellent form factor. It also bridges to my Blackberry, but I don't use that very much to be honest. And having acquired an iPad for indoor swmbo duties, I feel I'm in a good position to comment. Considering one for the kids.
Best use is as an internet radio when I'm travelling. That and a reference for the several 1000 publications I carry on mine.
having had a play with one of these this week I went out and bought one - its a good piece of kit does what its supposed to, not sure what the prob is with the resolution as the pictures and viewing is stunning, I would say actually more intuative to use than most, seven inch screen may be small for some but hey for £129 Im def not complaining...
I did find it odd though that the 16 & 32gb versions were actually more than the 64?!
Obsolete in that it's been dropped by RIM and isn't under active development, or so I thought anyway. Seems they're still releasing OS updates for it (2.1b is available now) so maybe they've backtracked? Interesting.
It hasn't been dropped, it will be getting Blackberry 10 OS when it comes out which is RIM's (probably last ditch) attempt to get a piece of the iOS/Android market. Apparently they're flogging these off to get more people developing apps in time for the update.
I picked one up, if nothing else it will hold 64gb of HD video and play it flawlessly (it's pretty amazing, no lag etc). That said the browser is also very good - HTML5 Youtube, Vimeo etc. - and removes the need for lots of standalone apps. BB10 will also supposedly be bringing support for cameras, card readers etc which will make this very nifty for travelling
Bargain I'd say so long as it does all you want. I bought one at £250 and have no regrets. It mostly gets used for a bit of internet browsing at home but also for movies, music, reading when away. No memory card slot but 64GB is plenty for me.
Only annoyance to me is that (AFAIK) Love Film can't be streamed since they went over to Silverlight.
Just went and bought the 64gb version after reading this thread. Too good a deal to pass up.
How do I go about getting the android market on there?

Link posted up there ^^^^
RIM are revamping their whole OS later this year / early next. I guess this will be pretty much obsolete soon. But its a neat device for watching stuff on, specially at that price.
The playbook will be compatible with the next OS, they will all be qnx based, or so I read...
The playbook OS is already QNX based so would be crazy to change that. I guess you mean the phones too ?
Entered on my Blackberry playbook 🙂
Love Film can't be streamed since they went over to Silverlight.
but Silverlight is not being developed anymore, so that was a good decision...
I had one a while ago , 16gb , and the screen and os were very impressive , I'm considering getting the 64gb one but I can't find a good review on OS10 !
HELLO WORLD!
Thanks to the OP Mrs CSW is now a very happy sofa browser!
Fab bit of kit for facebook, email, browsing, movies etc all for £130!
I am guessing that, as QNX is a proper realtime OS,it would probably make use of the hardware better than android...

That's great, but if you learn the lesson of a previous OS/2 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS/2 ) - it doesn't matter how clever your operating system is if there is nobody out there supporting it and writing software for it.
I can't see any other player now breaking into the market shared between Android and Apple in any significant way any time soon.
Fair point, but that's what people said about android a couple of years ago.
