For those who (ha!) have never seen it, this is how Dr Who started. I can still clearly remember it, fifty years ago. Nothing could have prepared children, or adults for that matter, for this programme, the theme music alone unlike anything anyone had ever heard before.
It's on BBC 4, at 10pm tonight, all four episodes back-to-back. Those who dismiss Dr Who should give it a watch, and attempt to put themselves in the position of a nine or ten year old who only knew about stuff like Andy Pandy, the Woodentops or Muffin the Mule.

ended up watching it and watched the first serial last night on bbc4, really enjoyed it as well
such a shame so many episodes are lost!
