As a license payer I would like to be able to watch Auntie Beeb shows whilst abroad. Can anyone recommend a proxy service that is easy to operate for the hard of thinking like me?

Many thanks in advance.

Most of the free VPN services are too slow to watch streaming TV. A 10 day trial of this

may be worth a try.

I actually do not mind paying for a decent service. Just want it to be safe reliable and easy to use. If anyone can point me in the right direction.

My VPN was brilliant. www.witopia.net

At that flat I had 16Mb broadband and there was no reduction in speed when connected to the VPN. It also let you dial into networks all over the world so you could watch US stuff as well - Hulu etc. All for US$60/year, which is a bargain in my book.

VPNs are better than proxy servers - the beeb block a lot of proxies now afaik.

If you don't mind paying for a decent service, we've paid for the premium service of this to watch Rugby etc from Oz. It seems to work pretty well almost all the time, but the BBC seem to be cleverer with their live streams.

zokes/molgrips/whoever: I assume you're watching iPlayer etc through a laptop/desktop, is that right?

I was hoping to use a Wii (which can do proxy servers but not VPN) but it seems like that's not going to be a good option (as proxies - even paid ones - all seem to get blocked all the time, apparently). I have a relative that wants to watch iPlayer etc through their TV and doesn't want to bugger around with resetting proxies etc.

Can an OLD (TV only has component/composite/scart inputs) Apple TV run the necessary VPN software for any of these products?
