Looking for some beer recommendations that are easy to get hold of for the match tonight.

I've been drinking Deuchars IPA from Tesco, ShipyardIPA from Aldi and some of the M&S ones but always on the lookout for something new. Anyone had anything nice recently that I can get at the local supermarket?

Cheers!

Sierra nevada Pale Ale and Torpedo IPA are both available in my local tesco and are great imports from across the pond.

If you're lucky enough to have a Waitrose nearby, they usually do a great selection of local brews, as well as all sorts of niceness like Westmalle, Hop Back, Bath Ales, BBF, and more!

Cap - there's a small Waitrose in Manchester City Centre, I'll pop in and see what they've got. Booth's should have some good stuff too I reckon.

Asda have 4 bottles for a fiver currently.

* my local Asda include it in their offer.

Purity Ubu or Gold occasionally pop up in Tesco near me. They're pretty good.

I also like Harvistoun bitter and twisted.

Not in to Badger beers myself.

Booths has by far the best range of bottled ales. It then boils down to what style you prefer...

e.g. Stouts & porters - Fullers London Porter, Meantime London Stout, Fullers Black Cab Stout, Acorn Brewery Old Moor Porter
American IPAs and similar - Sierra Nevada as mentioned above, Goose Island, Oakham Ales Citra & Scarlet Macaw, Fullers Wild River
English IPAs - St Peter's IPA, Fullers Bengal Lancer, Thornbridge Jaipur
English Bitters - York Brewery Centurion's Ghost, Yorkshire Terrier; Theakston's Old Peculier; Black Sheep Holy [s]Gr[/s]ale, Riggwelter; Jennings Bitter, Cumberland Ale.
The list is quite extensive

Lagers & continental beers? sorry, can't help you there

Brill, plenty to keep me going there. Two things STW never let you down on - beer and coffee.

Depends where you are but you can get Black Isle ales in Sainsbury's in Scotland, also the Sainsbury's 'Taste the Difference' ales are good value normally (actually just branded ales with a different label, Black Sheep, Landlord, etc.).

My 2p.....

Pick a style and then gradually try as many as you can. Everything you can get your hands on. Eventually you'll work out what you like and what you don't.

I read some of the above and thought "i'd never recommend that", but then remembered that everyone has different tastes and I probably liked some of them at some point too!

The best thing about it is that over your beer journey, you'll only encounter a handful that you really don't like 🙂

A great place to start is pick any old beer that you like, then try all the other styles that brewery does.

Supermarkets (particularly ones like co op which have great wine and beer buyers) are actually pretty good because their buyers put a bit of thought into what goes on the shelf. A proper beer shop is even better once you've tried a few since they can't point you in the direction of more of the same.

I bloody love beer!

My local tesco has started stocking Wiiliams . Their Joker IPA is pretty good (hoppy). Just picked up 7 Giraffes & Ceasar Augustus to try.

I also quite like the Blue Moon weiss.

I still pick up the obligatory Budvar and a proper german Hefeweiss every now and again (usually when they are on offer....)
