I just spent an hour trying to get my Logitech Boombox to start working again. Turns out it had disabled itself.. 🙄

And Mr Darcy has been eating cake all morning isntead of laying floors.

Im making a HUGE batch of baked beans, eating a mountain of home-made pate on toast and considering (only considering, mind) going outside to fettle with the land rover...

I've mostly been in conference calls trying to avoid picking up any actions, so pretty standard day really - not sure I'd class it as productive though

Not For me, I'd booked off next Friday for a nice long weekend trip to FOD and Afan, only to have the guy who was giving me a lift to turn up at my door this morning....ooooppss I'd put wrong date in the diary...what a f***wit. So this morning at 'work' has been spent working out how I can get everything ready as quickly as possible after work and drive the 4hrs to Wales before everyone has gone to bed.

Not really. Like buses, work wise too many things have all come along at once and I'm wasting my day trying to get them all either parked, delegated or deferred rather than actually making progress on anything. I also have a stinking cold and was awake from 3am from feeling shite....

I'm writing fairly lengthy Perl scripts. Which is entertaining, as step one was "learn Perl".

Not really. Waiting to hear from a couple of clients about some more work they [hopefully] want doing.
In the meantime I'm having fun learning stuff on my Raspberry Pi. need to spend some time learning about connecting a mysql database to a web site (already do it using Filemaker databases but I may need to store/run the database on Amazon web services).
'tis Friday though.

Moving data, encoding data, transcoding other data, all so students can have their film rushes to edit. Fun times. On the other hand it isn't particularly taxing and gives me plenty of time to browse STW and mentally prepare for my ride tomorrow.

As usual; battling with Pro/E.
Productivity with it is probably 50% what is is when using Solidworks just because I am constantly battling with it.

Madly wrapping up the monthly invoicing whilst watching the rain pour down and realising it's going to be a mudbath tomorrow at the RatRace Dirty Weekend, Burghley House - 6K competitors competing over 20 miles and 200 obstacles and we are filming/photographing/reporting on it.

This is interspersed with quick checks to see how DD is getting on with that cake!

Just back from taking Little Miss CFH swimming (Many YMs in the pool, which was nice). A saunter to the market to buy some lunch and now settling down to a bite to eat and Radio 3.

In the meantime I'm having fun learning stuff on my Raspberry Pi.

UPDATE: I have now, with the help of a little copy/paste, got a Python program that prints a message when two contacts are touched together.

All I need to do now is modify it very slightly to take a picture with the webcam and attach the contacts to one of the kitchen cupboard doors - I will then have pictorial evidence pointing to which of my three daughters is nicking all the fig rolls 😈

I've spent an half the morning doing my monthly expenses and the rest faffing. I haven't done anything productive in a few months now due to a lack of work in my area. WFH is getting boring too.

You'll find as you get better, they get shorter. Every perl script should be one line long. 😉

I've been doing a bit of PL/SQL, which I hate, and some python which is marginally better. Though not a lot.

Productivish.

Edit: did a bit of Ruby earlier. Which is much nicer than python and its bloody indenting.

FFS

I've product x to get checked by Monday am and just found out order is 5 short after the production op miscounted 🙄
So all the kit for that job needs setting up

Product Y is 100% checks which has turned a 45 - 50 min per 100 to 4-5 hours.They are due out Tuesday.
At the same time I've products a and b that need checking in the other building so I'm behind with that.
I've a pile of paper work a week old on my desk that should have been logged last Friday.

My manager is off sick until further notice, the other member of our quality department is on holiday for a week and a bit.

And because the other two are off I'm having to deal with all the bullshit question our C/S department fires at them every day.

So as far as productive goes I'm running at 110% and feel like going no where Fun and Games!

WFH too and just changed my rear tyre on my SS due to a piece of flint rupturing the sidewall.. I shall be forced to test it out in about an hour when lunch has gone down and Autowindscreens have finished replacing my windscreen on my van.
Not your typical day in the Bouy household but a welcome change.

I'm gingerly creeping round the house trying not to aggravate a bad back just wishing I was being unproductive at work.

Mind you, my back went in time to just catch the deadline for refunds if you cancel your entry on the Great Notts Bike Ride. Woohoo! 🙄

By that logic, I'm the world's worst at Perl. (-:

Windscreen done, rear tyre replaced, lunch gone down.
I call it "home time" as I'm WFH.. I can do that I can.

Now, where to go riding?

Not in the slightest... and I'm off at half three too. I would make some spurious claim that it's not by my own doing, but that would be lying.

Fairly productive morning for a change, I seem to have found a new lease of life at work and can actually be bothered again, which is nice.

BUT, just got off the phone with Islabikes having ordered a Cnoc for my eldest, ended up getting another Rothan too for the youngest as limited edition colour is green and that's his favorite. I'm going to get one hell of a bollocking when I get home and will most likely have to sacrifice an upcoming trip to the black mountains to pay for it.

(Don't flame me, you won't be saying anything I don't already know)
