In light of the fatal stabbing of over 300 people a year in the UK; do you think that the right of private ownership should be revoked?
oh yes ban them all, anything sharp even.
I think they should be kept in locked remote storage facilities with 24hour security and with the handles removed.
And that anyone who wants a knife is a sad, insecure loser and social inadequate and probbly also a nonce. ๐
It's not knives that kill people..........
what next banning owning a T Rex??
mikewsmith - you've proved my point. Ban them and the number of deaths falls to zero.
Nnnnoooooooooo.....
What about plastic knives?
What about pointy sticks?
more people are killed by cars/lorries so ban those instead.
Or pineapples!rogerthecat - Member
What about pointy sticks?
Also ban frown lines you could re-enact world war 2 on ๐ก
I know for a fact that a giraffe ran into a safari jeep and killed a German woman. Am I going to have to sell my private giraffe now?
Ban runningI know for a fact that a giraffe ran into a safari jeep and killed a German woman
iDave - you could sell it to some shootists for target practice so they can thereby satisfy their bloodlust.
For what public ownership?
Nationlise knives now!!!
Bring knife ownership to the downtrodden.
You just want knives to be subsidised by the tax payer.
All knives? Kitchen knives? Butter knives?
It's not knives that kill people..........
^ Agreed.
How precisely does ownership be revoked, what are the guidelines, how is it administered, would it not be completely un-administrable considering the amount of knives already in population (so to speak) not to mention every household has some form of kitchen knife/s

No they don't, people would just use knitting needles, or frying pans; a cast iron skillet makes a really satisfying weapon when you get a good swing and hit someone right in the back of the head. With luck you can get a comedy somersault with the right timing.
Does everyone else have the Knife Depot advert up right with a knife it would be illegal to carry in your pocket in France (blade too long)?
Our neighbour's son got arrested in Spain for possession of a knife. He was cutting a sunflower at the side of the road with the classic French Opinel.
ban baths dangerous things, people slip and trip, just not safe.
CountZero - when was the last time someone used a T Rex to kill someone eh?

There's a story in there I'm sure, care to explain ?
Hmmmm...ban Banns, they only lead to arguments and divorce.
I think we should ban reacting with jokes to others knee jerk reactions to 3 people being murdered .
I could kill someone with a biro or a screwdriver and both are perfectly legal to carry round.
No point banning knives ,if they intent is there the goons in question will just use something else.
If you banned everything that can be used as a weapon, there wouldn't be much left would there. ๐
Nah, no particular story, just use of various cooking implements as weapons in assorted tv films and movies. I've always thought that grabbing an iron skillet rather than a knife would be preferable in the event of a home invasion.
My fists are lethal weapons. In an attempt to offer safety to you mere mortals i have removed both of them with a simultaneous judo chop, left onto right and vice versa...
DrP
Not read all the original and spin off threads but IMHO the primary (and in most cases only) purpose of guns is to kill animals and people.Lots of other things can kill as well from cars to knives even keyboards if rapped on the skull sufficiently vehemently. But these things have other primay ,useful purposes too.As for knives there is a campaign to encourage more manufacturers to have the point of the blade removed to reduce their use as offensive weapons but still allow them to be used for cutting.I would also question the mentality of someone who wants to own something whose primary purpose is to kill living beings.... even if does mean agreeing with TJ and others.
what about hedgehogs, covered in pointy things that can really hurt. Ask my spaniel she once tried to cary one.
CountZero - when was the last time someone used a T Rex to kill someone eh?
Not sure but someone on here was probably there
Bloody hell ... how I am going to cook if they ban private ownership of knives errhmmm? How I am supposed use my expensive carbon steel Japanese import meat cleavers to slice/chop through all those spare ribs or chicken bones?
What if an aggressive intruder holding an AK-47 sticking his head into my window trying to shoot me for no reason just because I love spare ribs and while I am chopping up spare ribs ... what shall I do without my meat cleaver? Butter knives? ๐
NO! (like the angry guy from Harry Enfield sketch) You make him into spare ribs too! ๐
I've grown attached to my Gerber and it's really useful, please don't confiscate it.
