Not been back since as the rest of the family all moved to Durban, then here.
Pretoria is pretty sedate. Compared to JHB you'd call it boring. Crime relatively low. But then recreational activities within the city are also pretty low-key if you want more than coffee shops and nightclubs.
Luckily not too far from Magaliesberg and Waterberg for mtb and/or wildlife viewing. 6-7hrs drive from the coast if you want a decent seaside holiday.
I quite like Pretoria, though sedate as said. Beautiful when the Jacaranda flower.
Traffic is shit, you'll feel like you are in the uk 🙂
Any tips on how to get there quickly? There seems to be several airports, and expedia wants me to go to Johannesburg which makes me nervous.
Johannesburg is the international airport, so you are going there, then car or gautrain if it goes to where you need.

Personally I never felt safe in RSA (have ex-family in laws in Cape Town) but I think in reality Pretoria is ok. Don't wandsr around too much amd don't stay out oate at night. Take only pre-booked or ideally hotel ars (work is paying). As above Joburg is fhe international airport, get a limo / hotel car to Pretoria.
