Pressure Washer Hose (coiled like a spring)

Anyone care to recommend a top quality pressure washer hose to replace the awful one that came with my Karcher? It's infuriating as no matter what I do it coils up like a spring whenever there is any slack in it. Presumably there are better quality replacements that do not do this... Ta

Replaced my Karcher one with a rubber on and it’s “light years” better.

Got it online from a company called Direct Hoses.

you could try dunking it in some properly hot water for 5 minutes and then pull it straight while it cools. sometimes it works, sometimes not

Interested in this as I got the Flexi Karcher option and it's still a fricking infuriating spring 🤣

Which is better - rubber or PU?

EDIT actually none of the options on that site will fit mine as it has a reel. ☹️

Id have thought you want rubber, not PU.

Steel-braided rubber hose.

I used to have a Karcher with a hard plastic (I assume PU) hose.  Not an intentionally coiled one, but it had a set curve in it from storage / delivery. ****ing infuriating, always trying to kink (which would cause it to crack and then piss water everywhere).

I dropped some £££ on a Kranzle pressure washer about 2 or so years ago. It has a rubber hose with steel braiding. SO much better. Doesn't try to kink and flip, just does as it should.

Thanks - that has the right connections but is it flexible enough (from the pics it looks to be very much like the hose that I already have..)

Give Direct Hoses a call and discuss what you need. They’re very helpful and will make a hose to suit your needs. I’ve used them many times and their knowledge and service is outstanding.

New hose installed and is 1000x better than the original. I ordered the 15m version too (original is 10) and I did wonder if it would all fit on the reel. I was happy to just coil the excess up for the convenience of the extra 5m but it all fits so happy days. 🙂

Top tip, don't wrap it around something.

Instead run it into figure of eights on the ground, then fold in half for storage.  That way there's an equal number of left and right turns in the hose so when you pull it out straight it's not twisted, and it's the twists that force it to form a coil.

This doesn't entirely help if it's just coiled tightly on a wind-up drum so it's got a natural curve to it.  But if I straighten mine out properly before using it, then at least it doesn't tend to spring back.

I think the drum won't add twists as it's not coiling it. Most people when coiling don't add a twist on each coil so they end up with a birds nest full of twists and no neat coils. Figure of eight is also a very good way - if you want a rope/chain to run away freely without any chance of jamming then fig of 8 is absolutely the best way to lay it out. On a drum is like rolling it up end to end but as stated you do need to start with it flat otherwise the twists won't come out. I'll see what it's like when I get it out again after having been stored on the reel....

Yep, works as intended. Springy, snag under the car and generally get tangled round your feet coil free at last,  it’s a revelation! I’ve absolutely no idea why I didn’t swap the hose earlier. Additionally the extra 5 meter length (15m instead of the original 10m) means I can virtually get round the whole car in one direction. Perfik. 😎
