you can insert a powerpoint slide into word using insert>object> from file.
Why do you need to convert? just text or pictures too?

you can also "send to" MSword but that drops the slides into the word document.
File>send to>MS Word

What I want is to get all the text out of all slides & shove it into word for formatting

If you have THAT many words in a presentation, you fail.
How about using the slide outline view and copying & pasting?
