Definition - Power pop (or powerpop) is a popular musical genre that draws its inspiration from 1960s British and American pop and rock music. It typically incorporates a combination of musical devices such as strong melodies, crisp vocal harmonies, economical arrangements, and prominent guitar riffs.

After a glorious afternoon yesterday listening to my Rembrandts collection of power pop perfection can anyone suggest other bands for me to try out

I'm au fait with Jellyfish, early Bangles, Mansun

Anything else

Cheers

Plum

Perhaps even Sloan's One Chord To Another would be worth a listen Plumber?

Posies are top drawer though.

Big Star - they pretty much invented Power Pop. You want the 1st 2 albums (radio city and number 1 record which conveniently come on 1 CD. Alex Chilton the lead singer died this year. When they re-formed in the 90s the Posies made up the numbers I believe)
Early Todd Rundgren - try Something/ Anything
The Cars
Silver Sun - a UK band who were around during Brit Pop, but played classic Power Pop. The Eponymous 1st album is awesome

and of course Teenage Fanclub - Grand Prix will never get old

Indeed, Big Star are epic and better than most bands ever, also Nada Surf are great, and are around today. Teenage Fanclub, again, class.

I never quite get the genre as a type of music, but I'd agree, Big Star are the ones to go for a start. And end.

Not really sure I know exactly what power pop really is but I'm thinking the Wannadies might fit the bill.
