[Closed] Possible car purchase. Am I right to be wary?

Looking at an L200 pick-up on Ebay. The photos appear to show a very good condition, 13 years old with 104k miles, so quite low, MoT history is very good - no fails since 2011 and advisories only in 6 years. Price is highish but could be worth it.

I emailed the seller through Ebay asking a couple of questions and got an immediate response by text to contact him at a different email address. So I repeat my questions - how many previous owners, are you the current owner, could you advise latest road tax cost, can I view and when would be best time. First I'm wondering if he is now trying to move the sale out of Ebay by using another email. Next he quickly replies, not answering the simple questions, he is the registered owner, is only at his present location due to work and, if I pay the asking price he can deliver at his cost.

Am I being too quick to be concerned at these answers? WWSTWD?

My mate just went after a vw camper and it moved from Blackpool to Glasgow with different emails during the conversations.

Thanks, guys. I was worrying that I was too quick to judge but wasn't comfortable with it.

Even if it's not (and it smells) then what else is being hidden?
Other vehicles out there.
Walk away.

The "I'll move it at my cost" immediately labels it as an Ebay scam. Walk away.

Yep, you pay and it never arrives. Because it's done outside eBay, no protection.

You're right to be wary of an L200 anyway, they are the big bully boy gobshite cars of the day.

Which make the scam all the more likely to work if it seems like a good deal that needs to be snapped up quick before someone else grabs it.

The vehicle is clearly genuine as I got the MoT history from the government website, and the photographs are obviously of the vehicle. But I guess 'if it looks too good to be true it probably is'. I'll get back to searching. Reported to Ebay.

The car is genuine enough, all details will have been lifted off an earlier advert! Only last week a friend of mine almost fell for the same scam buying a tractor. Was almost the same wording. INstant replies (he BC'd me into the email chain), offer to deliver, not around to view for a few days but so much interest it didn't matter as it would sell even if mate didn't want it so be quick, etc, etc. He even told us where it was. UNfortunately for him it was a place only 20 miles away so no reason for us not to go to view. Not possible sorry... blah blah blah, paypal the money and he would arrange transport.
Mate found the phone number of the farm where it supposedly was, surprise surprise, no tractors for sale.

Run away.

The only reason not to conduct conversation via ebay is if you want to hide it.

Plus, as I've said a hundred times now,

If you find yourself asking "is this a scam?" then even if you cannot explain why, the answer is "yes, it is."

It's like the Daily Mail running headlines that are questions, the answer is always no. "DOES TURMERIC CURE CANCER?" No, it doesn't, thanks for buying our 'news'paper.
