Tyred Towers could be doing with a portable heater to provide a little bit more heat to the pretty chilly upstairs bedrooms.
I've insulated the loft as much as I can and while the boiler could probably do with being upgraded and the radiators replaced, that's not going to happen for a while.
I'm looking at a portable heater of some kind and figure I need either an oil filled radiator or a convector heater (not going to use gas) but don't know much about them. They won't be on all day, its more about heating the bedrooms before everyone goes to bed and having it come on early in the morning before we all wake up. The rooms aren't tiny, but they aren't massive either.
Probably looking to spend somewhere between 50 and 100 quid, and keen that the electricity bill doesn't go mental - does anyone have a recommendation?
Cheers!
I recently bought two DeLonghi Dragon oil filled radiators, £100 at John Lewis. They're very good - put one on in the downstairs hallway and after an hour you can feel the heat wafting around upstairs. They have a timer on them too. I can't tell you what they are like as far as electricity usage goes though, think they are 2kw if that means anything.
I used an oil filled radiator too, one with a timer.
It's 3kw and really warms up the room and it is still warm for a while after the timer goes off. I don't notice what it costs tbh as my electricity bill is quite high anyway.
I found the convecter type heaters made the room very dry air. I also dropped a baby vest on one once without noticing and by the time i found it , it was covered in scorch marks and holes 😕 so that put me off using those type of heaters again.
