So our boiler was losing pressure which almost brought on a black depression fearing a pipework leak somewhere unknown but then spotted that the top bit of the TF1 filter wotsit is where we appear to be losing water from, running down the outside of the casing and dripping off the bottom. I've got the big plastic spanner thing and the top seems to be on tight, is there anything a dunderhead like me could do to stop the leak or do I need a plumber?

TIA, comme toujours.

Have you checked the top is on straight?

Also isn't there some kind of valve at the top for filling with the fernox fluid? Check that is not leaking.

Also check the elbow at the back (you can orientate the pipe in several ways) and the service valve above it.
