We will be in touch
Sorry for the dull question but I'm a bit stuck here:
Problem:
The Electric shower will switch on, but after 1 second it then switches off again, currently it is set to the highest flow rate but I cannot adjust this as adjustment is only possible via the buttons when switched on. It will not stay on even on the coldest setting. Power doesn't trip it just goes back to standby mode.
Background information:
- It's an electric shower with a hot and cold feed (can never remember the correct term for this power/electric/blah blah ...)
- Recently the hot tap in the kitchen has developed a small leak around the mixer stem, only real outcome seems to be you turn the water on and wait for the pressure to push the air out of the pipe before flow commences.
- There's a long pretty much flat run across the loft for both the hot and cold supply.
- My boiler is old and hasn't been serviced for a long time.
I'm getting hold of a multimeter later to test the solenoid, after that, I'm at the mercy of you guys or a local plumber - please HELP!

are you sure? Is it just a pump, not a heater?
If it is just a pump with thermostatic controls I wonder if the hot has got an air lock and pressure is too low and thus the pump is tripping out?
Yep, it's this model G2000LX I replaced it about 12 months ago and it's been fine since then, but just in the last week or so it's given up.

That is a common problem, had to replace the one on our shower.
My fingers are crossed for an easy/cheap solution MrFlaps 🙂
Well showerdoc seems to suggest solenoid or PCB:
If you press the power button to turn it on, and hold it for a while to keep it on, does that clear the problem?
@nealglover, no, it switches off still - I've also tried a re-boot by switching off the mains supply (I work in IT, I couldn't help myself!) but still no use.
@doosuk, yeah had found that before - just wondered if the additional information would point to a more serious cause.
To screwfix for a multimeter I go 🙂

Ok, not what I suspected then. Sometimes it's just a slow flow at startup problem that causes the shutoff.
Obviously not in this case 🙁

Symptoms sound similar, our would just cut out randomly shortly before cutting out for good. Something like £20 for a replacement off Amazon....
We had a problem that sounds similar in that our shower would flash the overheat light and then just cut out, it turned out to be a blockage in the hose going to the shower head, we got a new decent hose and all has been well since.
