[Closed] Plumbing help, Pipe and Fitting Sizes

Just moved into a new house, boiler is...damaged. The oil delivery pipe is leaking (not badly, but around 50ml per day) at the joints from a non standard flexible hose delivering oil from the pipe coming in from the tank, to a tap connection near to the burner.

Eventually, I'd like to install a new hard pipe, but in the short tem, i'd like to replace the current flex hose, with an oil rated one. The problem is, I don't know the connection sizes...how do I know what it is, what do I measure?

I'm quite mechanically capable, but plumbing is a new one for me.

Help please?

Martin

you know the flex on an oil boiler is a time rated consumable much like a timing belt on a car?

flexes from the hard pipe to the burner are normal as you dont want the vibrations flexing/fatiguing the copper pipe.

has it got a fire valve on it ?

cant you just buy the correct flex for your boiler - thats all i do. comes with the correct fitting on the boiler end and a compression fitting + olive for the 10mm oil line at the other end - check you have 10mm as its not unknown for different size to be used.

Flexibles should only be used within the boiler case itself. All other exposed pipework needs to be fire retardant.

This flex is within the boiler case, but doesn't form part of the boiler, it's part of the line coming from the tank.

My guess is that the boiler was repositioned and a shortcut ( the flex) was used rather than redoing the hard pipe as is recommended in the manual.

What boiler is it , none of my previous worchesters and my current grant have specified a hard line to the burner , always been advised to run a flex to the burner from the hardline terminated within the case as bear says. I cant remember the time frame but its inspect flex at service and replace every 3-5 years iirc.

I'd say it was more normal practice than taking a short cut and that your boilers manual was the odd one out here.

It's a Heatslave 20/25. Once inside the burner cell, there's a normal flex, but this one looks like a piece used to connect a tap, and is leaking all along its length, like he liner has perished.
