[Closed] Please recommend me a comedy series..
I would like to buy or download a new comedy series but can't find any.
We quite like 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm or Modern Family, that type if thing.
Any suggestions?
Go on 4OD.
Just start looking through them...
Garth Merengue's 'Dark Place' as a starter.
BBC - 15 Stories High
if you like those then try Arrested Development - direct line from that to 30 Rock and Modern Family
Larry Sanders is available on DVD now and is an absolute classic
So sitcom/ comedy drama rather than sketch shows? Best I've seen in a long time is Misfits on E4 / Channel 4, you'll prob find the first series on 4OD, second series coming up next month.
I'll second Arrested Development. Not entirely sure about comedy but breaking bad and weeds are also very good.
I'm Alan Partidge!
Arrested development thirded. Then you can join in with the annoying will they/won't they wait for the film to be made
How not to live your life.
Third series is now being advertised on BBC3.
I hope they don't make an Arrested Development film
I don't think it would work
Big Bang Theory. Sharp & V funny.
Peep show and Inbetweeners
Inbetweeners, way past the knuckle at times, but I think it's ace. Strangeley my Mother in law (62) watches it too and loves it. I see her in a different light now!
Snuff Box with Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher
Trailer Park Boys.
If you don't laugh watching this, then you're clinically dead:
Im loving Phone Shop right now, but not available to buy yet I don't think.
"Dis ain't a meeting - its a me 'ting!"
Eastbound and down is good,
Most of the others above I've loved too, especially Breaking Bad.
Mad Men whilst strictly not comedy always entertains and raises a few laughs.
Rev, I think it was called, was on late on BBC2 a few months ago. Brilliant, Father Ted in Realism.
That 70's Show
Simply awesome ๐
Trailer park boys is brilliant.
Big Bang Theory however is not. It's just a SLIGHT (and I mean slight) re-hash of every single US sitcom since Taxi. Even the characters correspond.
Some of the gags are ok but please, for the love of God THINK OF A DIFFERENT FORMAT!
If you like Modern Family, check out The Middle.
+1 Big Bang Theory.
+1 Big Bang Theory.
Love it!
Spaced?
I'm a fan of Big Bang Theory too!
On a side note that isn't comedy (though quite amusing sometimes)...WATCH Dexter!
Peep show
Black books
Spaced
I'm Alan Partridge
Father Ted
Family Guy
American Dad
Not new but all worth watching
Green Wing (series 1)
How about Seinfeld it has Larry David's ideas before he recycled them in Curb your enthusiasm. A bit unfair as I do love Curb.
how about an ozzy one called Wilfred
best comedy on tv in recent times is....the thick of it
bbc 2 comedy about the goverment will have you crying
Based on your list... US version of The Office. Once you get over it being a copy of the UK version its actually pretty funny and takes it in a new direction. Loads of episodes, too.
Green Wing +100000, best comedy by far
I have just started to watch The Inbetweeners, cant stand any of the American 'so called' comedies.
Simon Amstel's comedy "Grandma's house" is brilliant too, was on a few months ago.
Thanks to this thread i've just found the 2 series of 'Chelmsford 123' on 4OD.
Been trying to get it on DVD for ages but apparently it was never released. Still funny (i had a nasty feeling it may not have aged well). Never looked at 4OD before but it's stopped me doing anything so far today as i've watched the first 3 episodes. ๐
yes
forgot about Eastbound and Down - excellent
and US office is very good too - ITV2 were showing it for a while but seem to have stopped. Anyone know if its coming back/ on another channel?
US Office is very good. The later seasons that haven't been aired here are worth importing from the states [s]or rapidshare[/s]
Parks and Recreation is also incredibly funny if you like the mockumentary genre.
How not to live your life.
Seconded!!

See, I watched quite a bit of this and never laughed. Seemed to be almost all in-jokes aimed at Jewish people.
US Office thirded. Like it more than the original and Angela is hot.
I think the Big Bang Theory is funnier if you are a Sci Fi nerd. Still pretty sharp I reckon. Not that big on Inbetweeners lots of pooh and knob jokes but I guess it is about teenagers.
Better off Ted
Also agree with Arrested Development.
One not mentioned that was ace is Flight of the Concordes.
molgrips - the fact that you don't like BBT, whilst I do, gladdens me. I wouldn't want us to be the same now would I..
15 Storeys High?
M*A*S*H - it's old, but still funny.
Breaking Bad.

If you knew how awesome I really am then yeah you would.
Jwt, so glad someone else suggested Better Off Ted. Really one of the funniest things I've seen in years, and each episode gets better than the last. It's the only comedy programme that genuinely has me laughing out loud every time I watch it. The humour is sharp and well observed and delivered. Crying shame it got canned after two series; typical US network fannying around shifting showtimes and then pulling the plug because no-one watches it. That's because no-one knows where to chuffing find it! Pushing Daisies is another brilliant series that suffered the same fate. Too sophisticated for trailer trash in Iowa and Idaho to get their stupid peanut sized brains around.
Nathan Barley
First few series of Weeds are really funny.
Dads Army
_tom_ -> Weeds is all funny, and especially awesome if you have a love of Mary Louise Parker, which I may just do!
Spaced - As already mentioned.
or Early Doors - as yet unmentioned.

๐ Same. I've heard it gets a bit tedious after Season 4 but I've only just started that one.
