Miss Houns has had loads of money taken out of her bank account from Sony. Her teenage son denies all knowledge and swears he hasn't bought anything by using her card. I doubt this, yes fraud/hacking may be possible but 50p says it's him.

So, I have no idea how it all works (god I sound old!), I'm going to sit down with him later and get him to go into his account so I can see purchases etc. Do all purchases he's made show? Where do they show? What should I be looking for ? Any sneaky scams etc he can hide?

Ta!

All ps4 games show a disc icon on the bottom corner on the left of the pic on the main menu. The ones that dont have a disc are downloaded. Look in library to see what else has been downloaded whatever he has not got on disc is off the store. Also he will get emails confirming purchases to the same email used to log into his psn. Most games around the 54.99 mark or look on what games on main menu then search for the same ones in the store they will say "purchased" next to them...

Don't think it'll be games he's purchased but extra points/upgrades etc for games he's got

He bought the latest football game a couple of weeks ago so I think it's something to do with that. As little as I trust him I don't like to ask and wouldn't ask to see his email, not that he'd show me anyway.

I think you can go to playstation network on a computer to view purchases.

Googling suggests there's a wallet to add funds to, can I see what's been added and when?

No idea, but can you log-in to your account on another console and purchase using your login? if so could have logged in elsewhere and his mates now taking the piss using his account? Might be an angle to consider asking, or at least an angle to take to get him to not hate you quite as much ;0)

I feel your pain...About 2 years ago my lad racked up about £300 on the ps store. He set up his own account which apparently all kids do? .... Fabricated his age and then asked if I could get him some extras on the store so I put my card details in thinking it was my account.... Ok not really thinking just Inputted my card number in zombie fashion. All was well for ages then he went on a spending spree which he claimed he didn't realise was being charged for (got some contrived bull about a glitch he knew about) anyway result was that every time we got charged the email went to his gmail account he used to set up the account and not to my address so I knew **** all about it till I checked my statement (not something I did much back then). Sony closed down his account once I contacted them but I still stood the bill as I had put in my card details. It's all too easy for kids to set up these accounts... Just a fake age typed in and an on line email address and they're in. I paid absolutely no attention or had any interest in the bloody game console which was ultimately my undoing.

Have a younger child who is now into the wretched contraption so I now keep an eye on what he's doing.

My Daughter's is setup in her name, the age is right but you can select which games to restrict by age limit and she doesn't have my card details in. We share games across the PS4 so I only have to buy one copy online and we can both play it on separate PS4s.

Moral is. Don't give them your card details.

No, I very flippantly thought that the account was just a second user of my original account not a completely stand alone account using a separate email address.... Therefore I had assumed the card details just had to be re-done (we are talking several years after I perchased the machine) not paying attention to account details and understanding the technology caught me out. Any time previous to this I got an email if something was purchased through Sony.

FIFA? Sounds about right if so.

Ahh reminds me when my Son spent £400 on Fifa points my CC, it was linked to his account.

It is no longer linked.
