Planet Rock Radio, Duff Mckagan

So i listen to Planet Rock Radio most days, not normally on a Sat night though but every once in a while i do and Duff McKagan (from GnR) is a DJ on Sat nights (sometimes with his wife helping)

I know he has done loads of drink & drugs in the past but he is a shockingly terrible DJ, even worse when his wife joins him and butts in when he's talking, I'm finding it so bad i turn the volume down between songs

Anyone else find this? i know GnR are on tour at the moment but even when he does the show from home its sounds terrible

He's no Danny Bowes.

I read the G'n'R biography, apparently when Duff started making money he had an advisor who suggested he invest in companies. No really knowing much about the topic he picked ones from his home city, Seattle. Early investments in Starbucks, Amazon... he's founded a wealth management firm for musicians and done a bunch of business courses apparently.

So I don't think the drink and drugs can be an excuse for his terrible DJing.

Maybe he needs to do a course on how to be a radio DJ, could even get some tips from these guys!

His autobiography is an absolute blast of a read - credits mountain biking with helping him straighten his life out.

Not listened to Planet Rock for ages though, Danny used to be great

Peter Antony on Radio Caroline - rocktastic, mate, rock-a-doodle-do! Somebody on here put me onto him a couple of years ago. Great music but, blimey Charlie, he's like a Smashie-era parody DJ. His show runs every other Saturday, downloadable as a three hour podcast from the usual places.ย

Me and the great man. "Putting them on, pulling them off and then putting them on again"

He may be an acquired taste but he has certainly put some good tunes my way. Hanging Stars being the latest in a long line.

Johnny Reece on Caroline Wednesday afternoons is also essential listening.

It's like having a cool elder brother in the 70s.

Definitely, and I'm glad you recommended him here a few years ago. Just make sure you fast forward when he starts reading his poetry...off to the Highlands tomorrow until the end of the month, and I've got his last five shows saved up for offline toons.

I listened to Duff for the first time last week. I thought it was fine. But then I also like/d Liza Tarbuck, Marc Riley,Gid Coe and Steve Wright. I turn off whenever Shaun Keaveney, MA Hobbs or Joe Elliot are presenting (along with most of the R2 presenters)

People like different things shocker.
