[Closed] pixel3 or P20pro for riding photos
One area my LG G4 really struggles is point and shoot riding photos.. by nature I guess phone cameras aren't well suited to lower light photos with moving subjects.
Anywho, its new phone time with a few options..google user so android only and looking between the Pixel3 and P20pro.
Was waiting for blackfriday deals so Pixel3 is $349 outright, XL is $549 outright ad the P20pro a bargain $249outright!
Pixel3 plus being the unlimited google storage, wireless charging, top shot and IP68.. P20pro upside being price per performance and battery
I've watched loads of vids on camera reviews but I haven't found anything that compares moving subject results. Night sight and Night mode appear to do amazing things but presumably don't apply to moving subjects.
Will real world results all come down to sensor and aperture size? - aside from my evident lack of photography skill ๐ ? P20pro has both larger sensor and apperture than pixel3
Any experience of bikey action shots with either?
I have a p20 Pro so can comment on that, but can't say anything about the pixel. I was watching the tour of Britain at the end of our street when it came through and took a few photos of the riders and support crew coming through. I was sat on the floor and clicked away as they came towards me. No mtb shots yet though. Hope these help.

Hi
Where can you get a p20 pro for 250 from?
Thanks
here in canada.. I should say $10.50/month for 24mo as I have to lock back into my current service.. but I'll be with the provider regardless.
thanks gnusmas.. have you found time for yourself to strava with it? Any issues?
Ta
Bearback:
I'm in Canada too, and looking for a new Android phone...so interested in which provider is offering thsoe phones at those prices. And more to the point, what the monthly cost would be for contract?
I suspect that those phones would only be available if you're tied into a $85+ contract...
I've a pixel2 and tried the night sight thing. Have a surprisingly good photo but it takes a few decoy to build the photo do I'll guess not suitable for moving in the dark photos. The daylight camera is superb.
I'm with fido, since 2003. Was on a 55/mo grandfathered plan with 2gb and they wanted to add another $5 so ported out with the intention of getting a 'bring me back' offer had 3 days with Public mobile prepay before fido called and offered me 5gb/$40 byop pulse plan bit its still rated as a small plan.
So, if I now add a handset I pay only the small price but lock into 2years.
Best strategy right now is likely to go to public mobile then koodo will likely send you an offer text to go on agreement.
Check RFD for tips. Black Friday might see you walk into resellers like best buy/Walmart and grab a p20pro on koodo for $0, less store gift cards and you can cancel the contract when you get home and only need to pay off the small tab at $480.
Fido look to have a 2gb/500 for 55 small plan that would give you the prices in my first post.
I've used both.ย I suspect that in the long run the P20 Pro delivers better photographs, particularly as Huawei are starting to turn down their aggressive AI intervention and leaving more natural looking pictures.ย The monchrome sensor is quite unique and lets you take fantastic greyscale photos.ย The disadvantage is that Google's Night Sight is marginally better.
The big advantage of the Pixel is that you get unlimited cloud storage and prompt software updates.ย Bear in mind that the Pixel 2 camera is pretty much the same as the Pixel 3 if cost is a factor.
I haven't had time to use strava yet. It is on my phone so no problems installing it but can't say otherwise, sorry.
If you get a P20 Pro you need to exempt Strava from the battery optimisation stuff, otherwise it won't record. Same for things like Wahoo or Garmin Connect. Spotify, iPlayer Radio, Castbox, Google Music need adding too for Android Auto to work.

So, walk into a store, sign up for a 2yr contract on a $1000+ phone, walk out of store and cancel the contract and just pay $480 to keep the phone?
Is that right?!?!
that is (was) right.
