sorry i thought this was something related to Pen Island
Went there April last year with a group from my other-hobby forum, the latter pics in this set are on the island – we rode across the sands from a Walney Island, after a brilliant ride through the lakes.

The island was fine to camp on, a ‘spit n sawdust’ bar + greasy spoon caters for on-site refreshments. Nice mix of ground, a little marsh in the middle of it (watched a barn owl for a few minutes patrolling the reeds), the castle + the tides to help you feel cut-off. Great for a 1-night trip.
Not camped but have been there.
On a warm Summer's night it would be an awesome place to camp. Nothing there but a ruined castle, a small terrace of holiday homes and a pub.
The pub serves decent beer and great fish and chips. There are deserted pebbly beaches near the castle where you could make a fire or barbecue.
Anything you want to take you have to carry onto the ferry.
I thought that said 'pie island'. I'm not going to lie to you, I feel let down.
It does have a "je ne sais croix" factor to it, but it's difficult to say just what that is!!
Worth going I thought...and the pub was closed then.
"je ne sais croix"
I don't know cross ?
(It's je ne sais quoi)
