a few pics of the camera I earned a living with in the early 70s
I still use that lens on my D800. I've the 28mm and 35mm versions too - the 35mm being like my third eye, so accustomed am I to it's flaws. Beautiful lenses.
Three fish, send me a pm or an email and I'll send you the lens and camera. I'll never use either again, Canon user now.
Now that Photobucket has effectively shot itself in the ass, I'm stuck for alternatives I can use directly from my iPad.
Flickr keeps saying it's making improvements, but the app appears to be useless, the linking mechanism seems to be designed to not work at all, a spectacular failure on their part; when I tap the right-handed arrow, all I get is the means to copy the URL, which makes no sense at all.
Imgur I just can't figure out at all, I've tried to get a photo to show, without success, so any clues would be gratefully received.
I'm not using my computer, it's connected to my telly, far too much phaffing around, my pad is my computer.

Not a great pic. Just a happy one. Sitting with the dog watching fish rise to take flies. Fascinates her.
(Yes, she is that big)
Just been on a 3 week road trip round bits of the north. first few of no doubt many habitually heavy handed images to appear on this thread from me.

Greg and Andy - I love you're last respective posts! Andy, the window lit chair is just fabulous lighting. How good woulda portrait be in that spot?
I was thinking similar with the chair.
This one is a bit of what I tend to call a 'crowd pleaser' but I confess, I do like the colouring. It took no talent to take sadly so I shouldn't really be proud of it but I thought to share it anyway.

Jad - sheer, blissful magic!
Thanks Greg. It was blissful until this morning when I had to actually peel him out his sleeping bag and kick him into the rain for the return journey!
picked up a secondhand Fuji X-E1 to use with all my old manual focus lenses, and having some great fun with it..

Show yourelf Andy!
hah! part of the reason for holding the camera is not to appear in front of it...!
Yes!
Love that last shot Bob.
Thanks Gt. There were only about half a dozen shots that I liked out of as many rolls. But we all go through that from time to time I suppose.

Ah yes, the older 'keeper ratio' conundrum! If it makes you feel any better I've read plenty of times that even the recognisde masters only aim for a ratio of about three per roll of 36. That makes it an expensive hobby!
Norman Parkinson would exit the Vogue offices with a model, a camera and three double slides of 10x8. He would be expected on his return to have amongst the 6 images a potential cover, a full page advert and a couple more editorial images.

i.e. he would expect every shot to be a keeper.
It's interesting isn't. The larger the format you're shooting, the higher you would expect the keeper ratio to be.
Intuitively you'd think that that was mostly driven by cost (it gets really expensive shooting large format) but mostly it's about the nature of the process.
The larger the format, the more deliberate the process, the higher the keeper ratio is.
The downside of course is that it's really hard to shoot 'the decisive moment' with a large format camera!
My ratio is somewhat skewed by shooting moving children ๐
And shooting landscapes on 35mm tri x is a skill way beyond me! Good job I just enjoy the faff of it all.
I thought I'd aced it on the one occasion I got 6 'keepers' on a 24 roll of Velvia 50. Of course, Sod's Law was then invoked and I got absolutely nothing on the following roll...
Bob - 3rd photo is excellent. Print - wall - enjoy.

Ooh an M10 eh, very nice.
Out of interest, how much shadow or highlight detail have you pulled back on that image?

It's what the M was designed for!................No pulling back of the shadows, but I gave the highlights a good tweak so as to increase the depth of the clouds.

I played with an M10 for a few hours last month. Quite uncomfortable with the itch at the back of my head due to it.
Must. Not. Buy.
Andy - very good sir.
I got all excited about the Canon M10 and then realised you are talking Leica... ๐ณ

I thought it would be one or the other, just wasn't sure which eway you'd gone.
The micro contrast is lovely and I also have to say, if you're ever going to see your 75 'Lux let me know. ๐

Sorry Greg, the 75 Lux though I don't use it much is the best lens I've ever owned. Built in Canada about 35 yrs ago, it's quality is superb. Just a pleasure to even hold it. It would work well on your SL but I'm not ever going to move it on!
