My sister and her partner are selling their iphone 4S and Nokia Lumia 920 however they're still under contract. One is on vodafone the other on t-mobile/orange. Is it possible for the phones to be unlocked whilst under their current contract? If not what other methods are available to get them unlocked to a different network?

Yes. Take it to an unlocking place. The small indoor market near me has someone.

Back the phones up before having them unlocked. I can't imagine they'd be bricked but loss of data is easily avoidable.

Or do it yourself.

Also, let me know when the 4S is up for sale.

Thanks mate. Will take a look at one of them places. I've always worried about them phone unlocking places in case they fudge the phone, is this likely?

Not with the 4s you cant, dunno about the Nokia.

Contacted the respective companies and asked, orange are a flat rate of £19 iirc
