Need some speakers (or some device) I can plug into my phone and play music through on holiday with a decent sound. It's for a Nexus 4 and I'm after something that can run off batteries where needed to be down by the pool.

Any ideas/suggestions? was looking at Sonos but rather expensive for what I need.

Might help.

The bose ones are nice but about as expensive as a sonos. There's some on there for £80-£90 though.

I've got a Cambridge Audio Minx Go. Pretty happy with it. £99

Get an x-mini. £15 - recharable batteries, small and robust, decent sound, much better that a phone or tablets speakers. If you want it louder then you can link them in a chain so you have more than one.

I'm sure the audio quality isn't up to scratch for the audio snobs but it sounds pretty good to me and you are sat by a pool anyway so it's not like it needs to be perfect.

Perfect holiday speaker IMO

If you just want background music then the Juice Sound Square ain't a bad deal for £25. I got one free with an ipod from JL, very happy. You won't be having no pool party though.

Aldi have got some in for a tenner today, I've been after a set for similar reasons and I'm going to pick one up after work today.

If you want decent sound, you want a minirig

Sound quality is excellent, battery lasts for ages. Love mine!

The Bose Soundlink Mini is surprisingly good - it needs only a slight bit of bass cut and treble lift on the EQ to sound very decent.

Can recommend - just taken mine to the maldives, didn't actually use it a lot but when I did it provided a very solid sound.

My votes with the mini rig... Blinding sound for the size. It's not blue tooth though but I can't see an issue plus the sound is better for the hard wired cabling. Couple this up with their subwoofer and the sound is quite brilliant. Not quite a cheap holiday speaker though.

Minirig, buy once and forget, the sound truly is awesome, even better if tucked away in a corner

Plus one for minirig, not being blutooth is a bonus! Save your battery and that

Just spent 30 mins comparing at Currys (I'm in a rush) to pick the Jawbone which had a great sound, guess what...out of stock. Bit of a bimble around to morrow to find something I think

For quality get a Bose sound link mini.

I also got a cheapie from aldi (£25)which is sand and splash proof. They still have some in stock. Nowhere near as good as the Bose but it's 1/6th of the price!!

Just fyi ended up with the Jawbone and very happy with, big sound that extends out across the pool area of where we are staying and nice and clear. Expensive but as they say buy cheap buy twice.
