Weird one this - when i lock the car with the transponder it, when i return to the car, is unlocked. Not always but sometimes!!

In the car park at work there are loads of pugs and citroens of a similar age, as is there outside my house. Is it possible that the transponder receiver is picking up others and unlocking?

If the key is not original is it on a generic frequency? possible?

No probs.

Got a 306 myself. Not a bad motor but the electrics leave a lot to be desired. In particular the central locking. Never worked properly. Did sort of the same thing. Would unlock after locking. Traced it down to a broken wire in the loom that goes to the door.

Don't know whether this would be the same on the parter as it is a newer car and one would like to think that pug have ironed out the problem.

Only does it (it seems) when other pugs or citroens are around

as neilsonwheels says, they tend to break wires in the hinge area, its possible to get replacments but it can be expensive and time consuming re soldering them in.

I would check behind one of the pick up points on the rear or side loading doors, any symptoms you describe can be caused by corosion under these five pin plugs.

look for any green mould around the pins.
