Far too early to go.

Brilliant in The Usual Suspects.
I once rode past him below the Long Mynd near the bottom of Minton Batch when I was out there a couple of years ago. Cheery hello.

Yes, indeed. Heard this news this morning on the radio as it broke. Terrific actor. Apparently his King Lear was superb. Always came across as a nice chap too.

Looked very ill in The Town but I put it down to age. Didn't realise he was actually ill.

I met him several years back at his investiture at Buckingham Palace, genuinely lovely chap, very genuine and down to earth, very sad.

I met him about 15 years ago when he and a few other actors drank in the pub I worked in whilst they were on location .He was a very nice bloke used to sit in the corner rehearsing a script not a luvvy at all .

He had one of those voices you could listen to all day. Great shame and very sad loss.

Superb actor, and I think Steven Spielberg said he was the greatest actor ever.

I always remember him absolutely 'princed' on TFI Friday once. Swore lots iirc.

RIP - I saw him on the train once - he got on at Newport - didn't approach him but remember some young girls getting on and saying (enthusiastically) "You're that bloke in Romeo and Juliette!"

First times I recall seeing him was in 'In The Name Of tHe Father' and as a nasty character in 'Sharpe' - excellent in both. Watched 'Inception' on New Years Eve where he had a small part as a dying man. RIP.

His portrayal of Obidiah in Sharpe was out of the top drawer. Can't think I have ever seen him play a bad part.

Pity real life isn't like Big Brother. he'd have never been voted out. Unlike anyone associated with BB and IMHO virtually everyone who is classed as a celebrity.

A class act, an ordinary fellow with real talent. RIP
