we have a new dog in the house so looking at insurance for him.

1-is it really necessary, if the vets excess is 75 anyway?
2-any reccomendations from fellow doggy people?

Yes, definitely yes!!! I'd go with petplan, no excess and unlimited claims.

It got run over the day after I got it, so didn't have any insurance. £2000 for the fix.

This made it uninsurable, and then it got bitten by a fox or a wolf or a dinosaur or something, on the same leg, the same £2000 to fix leg, which it then went on to have amputated.

Total cost £4000.

Get the thing insured, and do it now.

It's the most expensive thing I own after my house and car.
