ok.. simple as that.. does anyone have any experience with this things?.. you know the type that women carry with them on a cord.

the reason -- a guy that works with my wife was attacked coming into work early saturday morning, was choked, beaten up and had his wallet, phone and watch stolen and the basterward got away.

needless to say my wife and her colleagues are now very nervous about taking their usual lunchtime walks.

ohh.. obviously security patrols have gone up, and they do have CCTV footage of the incident .. police said something to the effect " oh ya we've been looking for him"

but... site security didn't bother telling anyone on site about this until yesterd ( wednesday ) and the incident happened saturday.

but again , in this case at least, a jogger came to the rescue ( albeit a tiny bit late ) having, as I understand, run across the park after hearing this guy yelling.

so... there are some good guys left?

I bought a couple with the intention of discretely attaching them to the bikes when locked up, so that if anyone yanked the bike away to nick it the cord would be pulled and the alarm activated.
The sound is pretty loud, and should attract some attention.

However, they have yet to be used in any context, so I can't be helpful Grynch, sorry.

thanks for the info anyway mikeT.. and that is another idea... I might get one for my bikes.

Mrs G and I live out in the country abit so fairly safe but another extra deterrent from scrubs wouldnt hurt.
