Pensions with bust companies Q.

Not me but my son. He worked for Jaques Vert, the clothing company & paid into a company pension & I assume they contributed too. They went bust & were (he thinks,) bought by Style Group Brands. He left the company & found work elsewhere, now he’s struggling to find who, if anyone is still trading & how to find out about any pension fund he’s paid into, plus how to withdraw/transfer it.
Any ideas?

Could try Pensions Tracing Service? Even if they went bust and the scheme ended up in the PPF (Pension Protection Fund) someone will still be administering it.

I know mine went into the PPF when my old employer went bust many years after I left them. However they would get in touch to tell him if that was the case.
Also, I believe once the PPF take over you can't do anything with it (i.e. transfers etc.)

Thanks mesh & swdan, he’s got some info from an ex worker via Faceplant but I’ll give him those details. I think he’ll be happy as long as he knows where it is.

The pension will be somewhere.

Looks like Jaques Vert was a brand owned by Calverton Brands, now liquidated:

Reading the liquidation report* Evolve IS were hired as employee advocates, so they would have all the details - I would try them. https://evolveis.uk/

That will almost certainly be a Final Salary scheme which can be in debt. As this is a fairly recent company it will be money purchase, so can't be in debt, you just have whatever they / you put in.

NB The liquidator's report didn't list a pension fund as being a creditor, which again suggests money purchase scheme.
