What are the conditions like at the Peaks, thinking of heading to Edale at the weekend?

More about the situation rather than the conditions under foot, only asking because I have seen a lot of videos and news posts about inconsiderate traffic and parking like a bell end because of all the pretty snow....s

No problems now all of the snow has melted and the townies have gone back to the cities.

Inconsiderate parking should be less of an issue this weekend as all the pretty snow has gone, and the Spine Race competitors/hangers on are no longer taking over the main carpark in Edale (which was a chunk of the problem).

Conditions underfoot/tyre will be minging after the thaw, mind.

TBF parking in the Peak has been utterly shit since COVID. It'll be shit this weekend too, but if you're on a bike you can be much more flexible about where you park, so it'll be manageable.

The sooner the PDNP wise the **** up and realise that when they designate " the national park with X million people within 1:hours drive" they might just have lots of people wanting to visit, the better.

Recently the parking on the Sheffield road below the Mam Nick car park has been surprisingly bad.

I’d expect it to be slippery with mud if you’re walking or riding.

I was out above Hayfield on Monday. That was snowy, slushy, icy, muddy, and glorious in parts. A mixed bag. By this weekend I expect it will mostly be muddy. Looking forward to getting out next Monday.

Can confirm.

Even the roads are absolutely filthy. Mud, slush, salt, puddles.

Although there is a pleasure to be had going over Rushup Edge and the top of Mam Tor at a weekend and seeing all of the ticketed badly parked cars....

Was thinking of a road ride with a mate in the Hope-Bakewell direction,  but forecast suggests close to freezing? Presumably thaw/mud/runoff might get icy?

The ice, snow, and tender loving care of DCC have left some pretty amazing pot holes so be careful
